Sewing for Kids! Bitesized Terms
Perfect for children in home education, this sewing for beginners group will cover all of the sewing basics and get them knowing their way around a sewing machine. Learn how to make a lined tote bag with the bagging technique, do box corners, zips, and buttons with a view to moving on to making basic clothing in a more advanced class. 1.5 hours tuition a week for just £15 (payable in 3 week blocks), materials included.
The class is at 1-2.30pm on a Wednesday. The bitesized terms are:
Term 2: Wednesday 8th January, Wednesday 15th January, Wednesday 22nd January
Term 3: Wednesday 29th January, Wednesday 5th February, Wednesday 12th February.
This group has a maximum of 3 children. An adult must stay with your child or children for at least the first week while your child settles in. This is just a safety precaution to ensure that if a child is struggling they aren't at risk of sewing their fingers! It will also ensure they get the most out of the group. We have free refreshments, WiFi and comfy sofas for the parents to relax whilst the class runs.
The recommended age for this class is 8+ although parents will generally have a better idea of whether their child is ready. If you think your child is ready for the group you are welcome to give it a try. The important thing is that they will be sensible when using the sewing machine so as not to injure themselves, Other than that, being able to sit still and listen to instructions are key.
