Sewing for Kids: After School Class
This sewing for kids group will cover all of the sewing basics and get them knowing their way around a sewing machine. Learn how to make a lined tote bag with the bagging technique, do box corners, zips, and buttons with a view to moving on to making basic clothing in a more advanced class. 1 hours tuition a week for just £10 (payable in 3 week blocks), materials included.
The class is at 6.30-7.30pm on a Tuesday. The bitesized terms are:
Term 1: Tuesday 26th November, Tuesday 3rd December, Tuesday 10th December
Term 2: Tuesday 7th January, Tuesday 14th January, Tuesday 21st January
Term 3: Tuesday 28th January, Tuesday 4th February, Tuesday 11th February.
This group has a maximum of 5 children. An adult must stay with your child or children for at least the first week while your child settles in. This is just a safety precaution to ensure that if a child is struggling they aren't at risk of sewing their fingers! It will also ensure they get the most out of the group. We have free refreshments, WiFi and comfy sofas for the parents to relax whilst the class runs.
The recommended age for this class is 8+ although parents will generally have a better idea of whether their child is ready. If you think your child is ready for the group you are welcome to give it a try. The important thing is that they will be sensible when using the sewing machine so as not to injure themselves, Other than that, being able to sit still and listen to instructions are key.
